Spencer Bear’s Visit

Niton and Whitwell Parish Council welcomed Spencer Bear and his team to the meeting on Monday 23rd January. Spencer, accompanied by children from Niton Primary School, invited the Parish Council to help the School achieve the Rights Respecting School Award, which is based on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child:

All children and young people have rights. These rights are the things that children need to be safe, healthy and happy. The United Nations has a list of all the rights that children have. This list is called the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). To see the 42 Articles which relate to the Rights of the Child, click on the ‘Rights Respecting School UNICEF’ logo found on the School’s home webpage

As far as we know, it’s the first time a bear has been to a Parish Council meeting!
